Since 2015, the City of Sherbrooke and Nature Eastern Townships have been collaborating in the pursuit of the city’s objectives in terms of conservation of natural environments through different approaches. In particular, NET promotes voluntary conservation among property owners by informing them of the ecological values of their property through a characterization report. The report provides landowners with information on best management practices to maintain sensitive natural features and forest cover.
Furthermore, NET conducts ecological integrity monitoring on city-owned properties that are already subject to legal conservation agreements.
NET also carries out various mandates for the enhancement of natural environments, through the design of interpretive panels describing the biodiversity features that can be found there.
